Frühlings Erwachen

By Lucien Haug after Frank Wedekind
Staging: Suna Gürler

When teenagers and adults talk about sex, soon enough comes a: Stop! Because sex is considered dangerous, still. Frank Wedekind’s scandalous piece Frühlings Erwachen was subject to censorship  in Berlin in 1891 yet was published in Zürich. Inspring, Director Suna Gürler and playwright Lucien Haug    along with young people and adult members of the ensemble have rewritten Wedekind’s text for the present. Forced into isolation by the corona lockdown, they now get back in touch with omniscience and ignorance, and enter the danger zone of shame, curiosity, naivety, experimentation and playful power – power that doesn’t only play a role in sexy posturing on Instagram or instantaneous postured sex on YouPorn.
